Zoology 161, Principles of Human Physiology, Section HD

Course Description:

This is an introductory course in human physiology designed to teach students the basic functions of the organ systems of the human body and the means by which their activities are controlled and integrated.    The principle of homeostasis is stressed.  No assumptions regarding prerequisite courses are made.  Enough relevant anatomy is included to understand the relation between structure and function.   The understanding of the basic principles and concepts is emphasized over memorization of details.  Students and instructor will discuss recent news from the media concerning health and ethical issues.   Some assigned reading will be placed in the library.   Students are required to give an oral presentation demonstrating knowledge of physiology or bioethics learned outside of class.

Any student who feels that s/he may need an accommodation based on the impact of a disability should contact the Office of Disability Services at 785-3211 in 120 Rentschler (in the Student Services area).  If you have already registered with this office and have requested accommodations for this class, please talk with me privately.
