Job Description

Fall semester, Mechanical Engineering co-op/internship
Could begin co-op mid- to late-summer.

Prefer 40 hours per week but will adjust to 30-35 to work around student's class schedule.

Responsible for the preparation of detailed, accurate, clear and complete drawings from rough or detailed engineering sketches by performing the following duties.

** Design new models, mechanisms and adaptations for limited line of products following directions and suggestions of supervisor or engineer.
** Investigates alterations to design for improved performance.
** Prepare layout drawings.
** Responsible for correctness of proportions, consideration of stresses, speeds, weight, form, fit and function.
** Change design to meet shop requests; may make alterations when in process to facilitate manufacturing.
** Responsible for accuracy of all drawings generated.
** Draw up lists (BOM's) to release for structuring of orders.
** Make drawing revisions as necessary or assigned to maintain accuracy of drawing database.
** contribute ideas for new products/modifications.
** Other responsibilities as assigned.


Education/Qualification Required

B.S. or A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology

The employer is using Inventor 2008 and will update to 2009 version soon. The student does not need to know Inventor but must be comfortable with 3-D CADD.


Salary

Range $12-14.00/hr depending upon qualifications / education
